At Butler Catholic, we recognize that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. Our goal is to further develop the early lessons you’ve taught your child, helping them grow socially, spiritually, and academically to be the best possible reflection of Jesus that they can be. We want Butler Catholic to be your partner in your child’s educational and life journey.
We encourage family involvement, believing that parents are invaluable partners whose support, trust, confidence, and involvement are critical to the overall success of the school. Your participation is key in helping us create a learning environment where children are valued and encouraged to thrive. When parents and schools work together, the educational experience is enhanced and families become stronger in the process.
BCS is a true community. We're proud to be family-oriented. Once you enroll your child at Butler Catholic, we begin a relationship with your family that we hope lasts a lifetime.
Entering a new school can be intimidating for students and parents alike. To help, we host several events prior to the start of the school year, including new family orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, and an all-school Ice Cream Social. Additionally, the Parent Resource Team welcomes all new families to BCS and seeks to ensure their seamless transition into BCS by answering any questions that new families may have and by promoting new Christ-centered relationships for them and their children within the Butler Catholic family. Volunteering
“If one of you wants to be great, you must be the servant of the rest; and if one of you wants to be first, you must be the slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served; he came to serve and to give his life to redeem many people." Mark 10: 43-45
As Catholics, we are called to serve one another as Jesus served. Each Butler Catholic family is asked to serve forty hours during the school year. Any family member 16 or older can earn service hours. Family service strengthens our school community and significantly benefits students’ educational experience. Studies have shown that when a parent is involved in their child’s education, students are more likely to:
There are lots of opportunities to serve at the school, including athletics, classroom parties, parent groups like PTG and Parent Resource Team, the school play, and many other special events. There are opportunities during the school day like cafeteria help, Book Fair or Olympic Day, as well as evening and weekend events.
All volunteers who work at the school must register in the Pittsburgh diocesan database, receive their Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and attend Protecting God’s Children training, among other things.
