May Crowning

The month of May is traditionally dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God, and the May Crowning is a beautiful way to honor her role in Jesus’ life.
This year’s May 9th celebration was hosted by fifth grade students in Mrs. Friel and Mrs. Skwirut’s classes, who led students, staff, parents, and members of the Knights of Columbus through hymns and prayers outside at the school grotto.
Fr. John Baver and Principal Sister John Ann Mulhern offered special blessings during the ceremony.
Students placed plants around Mary and crowned her with flowers. Following the ceremony, Fr. John blessed Rosaries fifth grade students received from Mrs. Friel and Mrs. Skwirut in honor of the day.
With clear blue skies and lots of sunshine, it was a perfect morning to commemorate the Blessed Virgin.
The event was livestreamed on Facebook for families who couldn’t attend in person. Visit the BCS
