Let’s Clear the Air Poster Contest Winner

Butler Catholic School students participated in the 2016 Let’s Clear the Air Poster Challenge, a collaboration between the Southwest PA Air Quality Partnership and the PA Resources Council. Fifth grader, Lauren VanFossen won second place in the elementary school division of the contest. Her poster will be on display various times and places throughout southwestern Pennsylvania including April 18th-22nd at the City County Building, and May 1st-21st at the Children’s Museum in Pittsburgh.

The contest was designed to encourage students and teachers in Southwestern Pennsylvania to learn about the effects of air pollution, how to reduce their exposure, and to encourage action through a poster campaign promoting clean air and alternative transportation.

All schools, public, parochial, and private in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, & Westmoreland counties were eligible to participate. As part of her second place finish, Lauren won a $50 gift certificate for herself and a professional magic show assembly on recycling for all Butler Catholic School students.  Congratulations Lauren!
