Junior Master Gardeners

The calendar may say that the school year is close to over, but for our Garden Club it just means a transition into summer fun in the garden!

Today our 3rd and 4th grade club members received their official Junior Master Gardener certificates! It is well deserved recognition for their hard work and dedication all year. After receiving their certificates, club members picked several quarts of strawberries, which were enjoyed later in the day.

The 3rd grade garden club members transitioned into their 4th grade duties as vegetable garden caretakers today by creating identification markers that they then placed in the garden beds. Families will be busy all summer taking care of our school garden, as they take turns watering, weeding, and harvesting the vegetables. We are hoping for a productive summer, as the club is growing a wide variety of vegetables including carrots, beets, Swiss chard, lettuce, onions, beans, cucumbers, peas, garlic, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, pumpkins, zucchini, watermelon, peppers, tomatoes and more! Stay tuned for updates as the summer progresses!
