BCS presents…

The Enchanted Bookshop Musical opens Thursday night in the auditorium. BCS is abuzz with excitement!
“It’s great to have the musical back after a two-year hiatus,” explained Principal Sister John Ann Mulhern.
The Enchanted Bookshop tells the tale of A Likely Story, a used bookstore where characters come to life. They long to help Margie, the scatter-brained owner of the shop, but can’t be seen by human eyes.
There are 70 students involved with the production, from kindergarten to eighth grade.
“Many of them have never been in any of our past performances,” Sr. John Ann noted. “It’s fun to see them work!”
Ruby Wissinger has been cast as the Book Fairy, who’s responsible for bringing characters to life. With opening night fast approaching, there’s lots of work to do!
“I’m looking forward to it, but I’m also nervous,” Ruby said. “I’ve got my very own song, so I’m excited about that!”
The students have been supporting each other along the way, which helps them grow into their own roles.
“The interesting part is to see how the kids support each other,” added Sr. John Ann. “They’re making the characters real, putting real life into them in their own ways.”
Ruby agrees. Preparing for opening night has been a journey of discovery, development, and teamwork. Practicing isn’t just about getting better as an individual character. It’s about seeing the story evolve as everyone works together.
“I like getting to be on stage and seeing how the set’s coming along every day,” Ruby said.
Students have their in-school performance Wednesday. The public will be able to see the musical Thursday through Saturday in the BCS auditorium. Please check our Facebook page for information about purchasing tickets!
