STREAM Egg Drop
This Friday’s STREAM project was truly EGG-citing! The 6th, 7th and 8th graders were placed into small groups and asked to design a landing pad to cushion the drop of a raw egg from a 1 meter height. Students were supplied with only 10 sheets of white copy paper, 1 meter of masking tape, and a pair of scissors with which to construct the landing device. Sixteen teams took turns this afternoon dropping their eggs, and only 7 eggs survived the one meter height without cracking or breaking. Those seven teams went on to compete again to drop their egg from a 1.25 meter height. Four of those teams are left to compete again next week. All teams will then have an opportunity to redesign their egg catching device for a second round of competition.
