First Day of Preschool

Today was the first day of school for our Butler Catholic Four-Year Old Preschoolers!   To ensure her preschoolers felt safe and secure on this very special day, Preschool Teacher, Mrs. Briggs, started off the year by reading her students the story, The Kissing Hand, by Audrey Penn.  The story relates a young raccoon, Chester, that doesn’t want to leave his Mother, Mrs. Raccoon, on the first day of school.  Mrs. Raccoon reaffirms her son by kissing his hand.  She tells him that whenever her son misses home while at school, he can simply press his hand to his check and receive a kiss from his mommy.  Chester loved the kissing hand, and it helped him to go to school with his mother’s love still with him.   While Mrs. Briggs read the story, she passed around a stuffed animal raccoon for each student to hold and hug.  The students also created their own artwork of a kissing hand to remind them of the story and how much they are loved.  We are so thankful for all our new preschool students, and for our loving preschool teachers who have wonderful lessons planned for this year!
