Blessing of the Animals

In honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, a “Blessing of the Animals” service was held on Tuesday, October 6. Fourth grade students hosted the service and were invited to bring their pets to school which included cats, dogs, a turtle, a gerbil, Lenny the lizard, and critters of all kind including “Sunshine” the chicken who hatched right here at Butler Catholic School last year! All other students were invited to bring a stuffed animal to be blessed. A special thank you to Father Mark for coming to our annual “Blessing of the Animals” service!

“Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.”
