Dear
Parents,
Ever
since “Phil
predicted an early
spring,” “ole
Man Winter” just
wants to hang on! The
weather certainly
has played havoc
with our school calendar. State
Law requires us to
have 180 instructional
days; therefore,
the students will
attend school on
the following days
in addition to the
already scheduled
calendar:
Monday,
April 9
Thursday, June 7
Friday, June 8
Monday, June 11
Diocesan policy
does not permit us
to be in session
on Holy Thursday,
April 5, as the Butler
Area School District
is doing.
Many,
many thanks to
Val Boyer and Vicki
Hinterberger for
ALL their fantastic
work on the Basket
Bingo. Thanks,
too, to all of you
who were there, who
donated baskets,
money and or time
to make it such a
success. As
soon as all tabulations
are completed, we’ll
pass the results
on to you.
It’s that
time of the year
again – TerraNova
achievements tests. During
the next two weeks,
students in Grades
2-8 will have about
an hour of testing
each morning. Please
make sure that your
student is here on
time – 7:55
AM in his/her homeroom. A “helpful
hints” note
is included in this
Thursday’s
packet.
Also
enclosed in Thursday’s
packet is information
on a Parent Workshop
on Bullying. There
are many misconceptions
about this topic. Try
to attend one of
these sessions to
find out what you
as a parent can do
to help your child. Registration
is required.
Congratulations
to Mrs. Jayne Chobot
and her 14 seventh/eighth
grade students who
participated in the
PJAS competition
at Slippery Rock
University. All
of them placed either
first or second. The
eight first place
winners will compete
at the State level
at Penn State. Be
sure to read about
it in the current
issue of the BCS
BUZZ.
This
Saturday, March
10, our Varsity Boys
Basketball team will
play in Round II
of the Diocesan Playoffs
held at Central Catholic
High School. They
are the Section North
1A undefeated champs!! Congratulations
to them and their
coaches, Harry Leyland
and Rob Swartwout!
Thursday,
March 15, is Open
House at Butler
Catholic. While
it is mainly for
new families, you
are welcome to come
and see your school
in session. The
time frame is 9:00
AM – 2:00 PM
and 6:30 – 8:30
in the evening. Please
encourage others
to come and visit
our school. Remember,
the more students
we have, any tuition
increase will be
lessened. We’re
aiming for two rooms
of every grade with
20 students per room. Spread
the word. Invite
others to come. If
you bring a new family
to enroll in school,
your $100 registration
fee will be waived.
Look
for the Renewal
of Registration
form to come home
tomorrow. Please
complete it and
return it to the
Office by Friday,
March 23. Remember
your Easter candy
orders are due
tomorrow. The
profit earned from
this PTG fundraiser
goes to fund the
busses for field
trips.
As
we continue our
Lenten journey, may
we keep focused on
the depth of the
love our Provident
God has shown us. May
the strength and
faithfulness of Jesus
be with us each day
to help us bring
forth the Kingdom
of God in our corner
of the world. God
bless!
Gratefully,
Sister
John Ann
