October
13, 2006
Dear
Parents,
As we approach the
change in weather,
here are just a few
reminders about the
dress code:
- Shorts may be
worn until October
31.
- BCS
sweatshirts and
hoodies may be
worn from November
1 until March 31
as part of the
acceptable daily
attire. However,
if rooms become
too warm, they
will need to take
them off.
- Because of the
quick changes in
temperature, it
may be a good idea
if the children
kept a sweater in
their lockers. Please
have them identified
with your child’s
name or initials.
- With
the approach
of colder weather,
please remember
to listen to WBUT,
WISR, KDKA, WPXI,
or WTAE for any
delays or cancellations. We
follow Butler Area
School District’s
delay or cancellation
schedule.
We
did have some excitement
last Friday afternoon
and the children
responded to the “surprise
fire
drill” as expected. They
were concerned when
they realized it
wasn’t a “practice.” They
were not in
any danger. It
was a precautionary
action. The
transformer behind
school caught on
fire. As the
main line to school
was from that transformer,
we evacuated the
building and the
Fire Department came. The “all
clear” signal
was given and we
resumed school. The
children’s
response and the
teachers’ solicitous
care for them kept
everyone “calm,
cool, and collected.”
The
PTG fundraiser
is due on Monday,
October 16. It
is from this event
that the PTG obtains
the funds for the
assemblies and buses
for the various field
trips. Field
trip bus costs range
from $110 to $150
depending on the
distance and the
length of time. Assembly
presentations range
from $295 to $700. We
have approximately
four a year.
Mid-quarter
grades are posted
online. As
it stands now, this
will also be the
process for receiving
report cards. Your
child’s ID
number is the same
as last year. If
you cannot locate
it, please request
the number in writing.
The
students will celebrate
Halloween with
a party on October
31 from 1:00 to 2:00
p.m. They may
come to school in
costume. They
are to be dressed
as a fictional, historical,
or religious character
and they should know
three facts about
their character. Costumes
are to be SAFE—no
weapons (guns, knives,
hatchets, etc.)—masks
may be worn for the
party as well as “big
shoes.” There
is no need for candy,
cookies, etc. to
be sent in. The
PTG will provide
the snack. We
want it to be a fun
time. Homeroom
mothers will be in
touch with you in
regard to help.
Thank
you again for your
cooperation. May
Our Lady Queen of the
Rosary always hold
you before the loving
arms of our provident
God. May you
enjoy the beauty of
this colorful time
of year!
Gratefully,
Sister
