Sister John AnnDear Parents,

With a few days “under our belt,” a couple of things have surfaced that need to be addressed.  Your help with these is greatly appreciated.

  • If your child/ren will not be in school, please call the School Office by 8:15 AM to call them off.  A written note is still required upon their return to school.  This note is to state the reason for their absence.

  • Any change in your child’s dismissal must be stated in a note—even if it is just “getting off at a different stop.”  Just a reminder.  Students cannot ride on a bus from another school district.  So when making arrangements for visiting, check to see if your child’s friend is in the same school district.

  • Please remind your child/ren about bus safety.  While there are no seat belts on the big busses, children (regardless of age) are to be properly seated, feet on the floor (if they can reach it) and backpacks on their laps.  Riding the bus is a privilege—we hope none of our students lose it.
  • As I write this, I see five lunch boxes on the counter with no name in any of them.  Three of them have been here since Monday!  Please, please put your child’s name on the INSIDE or just the first name on the outside.  Items not claimed within a week are going to “disappear.”

In another vein, there are some events coming up that I want to bring
to your attention.  This weekend is the Ethnic Festival in Butler.  Our PTG has had the “pie booth” for the past seven years.  We need your “fruit pies!”  Please bring your pies to school on Friday, September 15, by 4:00 PM.  If you cannot make pies, please send in your donation so that we can purchase some pies.  But remember, “homemade” is always better.

All students in Grades 4-8 who plan to play volleyball, basketball, or soccer must have a current physical and they must register for their sport.  On Sunday, September 17, from 6:00—8:00 PM there will be three physicians here to do physicals for these students.  A parent must accompany the student.  Members of the Athletic Association will be present to register students for the various sports.  The fee is $40 per child per sport.  If there is a financial difficulty with this fee, please see me.

We’re extending the “Kidstuff Coupon Book” for one more week.  The monies we gain from this go into the “Fundraising” part of the budget.  We hoped to sell 400 books to yield a $5,000 profit.  Please help make that goal a reality.  Monies for orders are due by Wednesday, September 20.

This year, we’ve made a change in the Mass Schedule.  Grades 4, 5, & 6 will go on Tuesdays, Grades 7 & 8 will go on Wednesdays, and Grades 1, 2, & 3 will go on Thursdays.  There will be no Mass on Friday EXCEPT for the First Friday of each month.  Mass in the Chapel is at 1:30 PM and Mass on First Fridays will be at 1:15 PM in the Auditorium unless otherwise stated.

Thank you for your prayers for my brother.  The pacemaker has improved his heart rate to 25% of it working.  They cannot do the needed surgery until that improves.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Tuesday evening, September 19, is our “Meet the Teacher Night” at our PTG gathering.  It will take place at 7:00 PM in the Gym and is an informal information evening.  We hope to see all of you there.

May you always feel the loving arms of our Provident God holding you close to His heart.  May He bless you abundantly

Gratefully,

Sister John Ann
