Image of Sister John AnnDear Parents,

Perhaps the best description of this letter is a "list of reminders." So, we'll use the listing format.

  1. Tuesday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium there will be an explanation of the diocesan report card that we use. The A-B-C interpretation of their grades is NOT what is meant today. We don't want anyone to have "a heart attack" when they see their child's report card. The session should only last about an hour.
  2. If you notice your child scratching his/her head constantly, you better do a "head check." Head lice have no preference for location to lay their eggs. (Often it is the cleanest head in which they nest.) The best description of head lice is a "clump of wet salt at the root of the hair." If you find any, you must treat your child with a special shampoo, and follow the directions given before a child can come back to school. We need to know of your child's condition right away so that we can alert the school nurse. Remember, head lice are non-discriminating-ANYONE can be its victim.
  3. With the cold weather approaching, school delays and closings may take place. We will follow what the Butler Area School District does. Listen to any of the following radio stations: WBUT AM, WLER FM, WISR AM, KDKA, or WPXI-TV, PCNC, WPXI.com, and Pittsburgh.com for information on Butler Catholic.
  4. We are having Mass in the Chapel on Tuesday through Friday at 1:15 p.m. Parents are invited to attend any day, even if it is not your child's Mass day.
  5. Thursday, October 30, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. is the Halloween Party. The PTG is providing a snack. If you send anything in, the teacher will decide when it will be given. Please keep in mind that it may not be that day. Just be aware.
  6. Saturday, November 8, is the Winter Wonderland Silent Auction and we still need your help. Whatever you can do-items, baskets, or monetary donations-will eventually come back to you in the amount of tuition for next year. Fundraising has to raise $50,000 this year-so every little bit helps.
  7. And, speaking of "every little bit helps"-the Scrips program does just that. We can make money on what you are already spending. Everyone buys groceries, eats out and shops at J. C. Penney-just buy your gift cards here before you go shopping. We are adding Wal Mart cards this weekend. If all school families are faithful to buying gift cards, the potential result could be $100,000. Please get in the habit of buying cards. They are available in the office every day, Wednesday afternoon from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at school, and after all of the weekend Masses at all of our parishes.
  8. This is the beginning of "the flu season." While we do want the children to be in school, if they complain about not feeling well-have a fever, coughing excessively, achy all over, or a runny nose in the morning-please keep them home. If they feel better later in the morning, bring them in. You know your child/ren-you know if "they just want to stay home."

Many thanks for all that you do. May you continue to feel the warmth of our Provident God's love surrounding you
and showering you with His very special blessings.

Gratefully,

Sister John Ann
