Dear Parents,

Image of Sister John AnnMany, many thanks for the great attendance at "Meet the Teachers Night." You certainly gave evidence of why Butler Catholic is the great place that it is!

When I arrived here and began preparing for this school year, I needed to figure out how to complete our faculty roster. After "working with the budget," the only way I could re-hire on a part-time basis, was to make adjustments. As of Friday, August 29, Margie Hanratty is no longer with us. Due to budgetary reasons, I had to let her go. Her work is being done by Karen Barber, and tuition is being taken care of by Tina Bono. Margie's work was exemplary and we thank her for her service.

This week's packet contains both the detailed monthly calendar and the yearly calendar of events. This calendar also includes events at the various parishes that include the students and/or parents of Butler Catholic. These all center on religious issues that are parish-oriented. Fifth grade parents are to take advantage of the CVOL parent meetings-the Catholic view on human sexuality. If your parish is not listed, it means that at the time we were preparing the calendar, the dates were not ready. Feel free to call the DRE of any parish for information about attending.

Looking ahead to the next few weeks-we have our "Back to School Night." Tuesday, September 16, Kindergarten-4th Grade parents will participate in what your children do during the day. There will be two presentations-6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. On Wednesday, September 17, parents of students in Grades 5-8 will "be students" and follow their child's schedule for a day-abbreviated sessions. You will receive "your schedule" next week.

A clarification on the "free jeans and tennies" pass:

1. Children must have the pass "in hand" in order to wear jeans.

2. Appropriate "tee-shirts" may be worn-no vulgarity, double-meaning words,
suggestive pictures, or cropped shirts.

3. For right now, only full-length jeans are to be worn. Jean skirts may be worn
as long as they are no more than two inches above the knee.

Please remember to buy your Giant Eagle or Friedman's certificates before you go shopping. You can purchase them in the office between 9:00 a.m. and Noon daily. Also on hand are Pizza Hut cards, Burger King, Regal Cinemas, and J. C. Penney. If you wish, these can be taken home by your child. We will call them to the office at the end of the day to get them. An order form is enclosed.

Thank you for your tremendous cooperation. Our first School Mass is this Friday, September 5, at 1:15 p.m. There is a section of the bleachers for the parents-the one closest to the door to the playground.

As each day unfolds, may you be filled with the wisdom of our Provident God whose love for you is unending.

Be assured of my daily prayers for you. God bless.

Gratefully,

Sister John Ann
