How to Apply

Butler Catholic School accepts and considers applications from all students. The following steps must be completed in order to be considered for admission to Butler Catholic School. Please contact the school office at 724-285-4276 with questions about the required elements detailed below.

1. Application

The application is the first step in securing a spot at Butler Catholic School for your child.  Applications can be submitted any time, beginning on January 30, 2017.  The following forms and items must be completed for your application to be processed.

Kindergarten through Eighth Grade Application Items

Please mail the completed items to Butler Catholic School, 515 East Locust Street, Butler, PA 16001. Please include your application along with the Signed Statement of Understanding and application fee.
The $25 application fee is non-refundable, and will be applied to your $125 registration fee.

Preschool Student Only Application Items

Please Mail your preschool application and check to Butler Catholic School, 515 East Locust Street, Butler, PA 16001.
The $25 application fee is non-refundable, and will be applied to your $35 registration fee.

2. Processing

Your application will be dated and time-stamped by the school office upon receipt.  Applications will be processed in the order they are received.  However, registered members of Butler Catholic’s five supporting parishes (St. Andrew, St. Fidelis, St. Michael, St. Paul and St. Peter) will be given priority until February 3, 2017.  After that time, applications will be processed in the order of receipt regardless of Parish membership or religious affiliation.

3. Family Registration Meeting

The final step in the enrollment process is a meeting with the Principal, Sister John Ann Mulhern. If there is an available spot available for your child(ren), you will receive a call from the school office to schedule the registration meeting.  If you receive a call to set up a registration meeting, there is a confirmed spot available for your child(ren) for the 2017-2018 school year.   At that meeting, your registration will be finalized. Final acceptance to Butler Catholic is contingent upon receipt of records from a student’s current school.

You will need to bring:

  • Copy of immunization records
  • Copy of baptismal certificate
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Parish envelope number (if Catholic)
  • Custody agreement, if applicable
  • Copies of any relevant academic, medical or behavioral paperwork (IEP, Title 1, Learning Support, etc) if applicable
  • Check for $100, for the remainder of the non-refundable K-8 registration fee, or check for $10 for the remainder of the non-refundable preschool registration fee.

Once a grade level’s capacity is full, registration for that grade will close and any family trying to register for that grade will be added to a waitlist. The school office will contact you should a spot become available. It is Butler Catholic’s policy to not make the waitlist public. We are unable to comment on a family’s position on the waitlist or likelihood of admission.

Informational Tour
We encourage all interested families to participate in a tour of our school prior to the Family Meeting. Our tours are designed to provide parents with the best possible opportunity to experience our nurturing educational setting. The tour will serve as an introduction to our curriculum that is structured around challenging our students to use their gifts to their fullest potential.

Shadow Visit
Shadow visits are also encouraged for transferring students. This experience matches your child with a current student who shows them around Butler Catholic School during the course of a day. It gives your child a real feel for what an educational experience at BCS is all about. To schedule a visit call the office at 724-285-4276 or email at bcsoffice@butlercatholic.org.

Transfer From Another School
A request for transfer of all records must be signed by the parents. The process is complete upon the receiving of school records. The placement of the student in the appropriate learning level is the school’s responsibility.

Parent Resource Team
The Parent Resource Team welcomes all new families to BCS and seeks to ensure their seamless transition into Butler Catholic School by answering any questions that new families may have and by promoting new Christ-centered relationships for them and their children within the Butler Catholic School family.
