Friends of Butler Catholic Appeal

Dear Friends of Butler Catholic:

Since the late 1780’s, the United States has been blessed with a school system based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.  From very meager resources, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, supported by Bishop John Carroll of Baltimore, began teaching children about their faith as well as how to read, write, and do math in an environment that fostered an awareness of God’s presence.

To continue that strong tradition, Butler Catholic School was formed from the population of Saints Michael, Paul and Peter parishes in 1969, with additions of the families from St. Andrew and St. Fidelis parishes a few years later.  The location was the expansive structure of St. Paul School.

We are at a “crossroad” right now.  The structure being used was constructed in 1947 and has the original functional structures.  Many of these 63-year old parts need replaced or updated.  The “Nolan Fund” may not be used for any physical improvements, renovations, construction, etc.

Your help will lead us to the fulfillment of our goals.  I realize that the economy is not the greatest at this time, but yet, it has been proven that when things seem at their worst, that is when we do our best.  Your contributions are completely tax-deductible and will be used for improvements and renovations to Butler Catholic School.

Our goal is to raise $2,500,000 over the next five years to address our top five needs: Windows, Roof, and Lighting Replacement; as well as, Mechanical and Technology Upgrades.   Would you please help?

†      As an incentive to giving to this year’s Appeal, an Alumnus has issued a challenge.
For each single family or individual donating $500 or more by May 30th, 2012, our
friend will match your donation to Butler Catholic, up to $100,000 in total.  Can you
give $84/month for the next 6 months to help us meet this challenge?

†      Also, for each donation of $500 or more, you will receive a virtual window on the
        Butler Catholic Website.

†      All donations, large and small, are included in our Donor Wall of Thanks, located on
the wall directly to your right as you enter the school building, as well as the yearly
        “Thank You” brochure.

Butler Catholic is a valuable resource to the community and its children.  By helping the children at Butler Catholic, you are also investing in the long-term future health of our community.  And you are helping to carry on the 153 year old tradition of Catholic school education in Butler that started with Saint Peter’s, Saint Paul’s, and Saint Michael’s schools.

Whatever your contribution, please know that it is received with our deepest gratitude and a promise of special remembrance in our daily prayers.  May our Provident God surround you with His very special blessings, filling your lives with His loving peace.

Gratefully,

Sister John Ann Mulhern
